Myriam Lefkowitz
French artist and choreographer Myriam Lefkowitz is based in Paris. Her practice is concentrated around questions of attention and perception, and the creation of immersive environments that require a direct relationship between spectator and artist.
Her work has been presented at the Venice Biennale (Lithuanien and Cyprus Pavillon), the MOT (Tokyo), De Apple (Amsterdam), Le Nouveau Festival (Centre Pompidou), The Bergen Triennal, the Talbot Rice Gallery (Edimbourg), Bétonsalon (Paris), La Ferme du Buisson (Noisiel), La Galerie (Noisy le Sec)…
In 2011, she took part in the master of experimentation in Art and Politics (SPEAP, Science Po Paris) founded by the philosopher Bruno Latour. She becomes a tutor in the program in 2013. In 2018 she was commissioned by If I Can’t Dance I Don’t Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution (Amsterdam). She is currently currently pursuing her research with la facultad, a long-term project conceived with the choreographer and performing artist Catalina Insignares – aimed at people in situations of exile and migration, teaches at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD, Paris) and is beginning to work with orality, exploring how dance can be produced, shared and described outside its usual context of appearance.
