We never dance alone. Or, as the French philosopher Emma Bigé puts it: “We are moved by others rather than by ourselves.” In a sensitive, refined choreography, with the spotlights acting as a living orchestra, Rémy Héritier and Bryan Campbell explore the origins of movement.

They start from the idea that the body is a conduit for movements and gestures that do not belong to us. Just as in the real world, they regard a work as a sounding board for others, who circulate and move within and through us, in the certainty that creativity springs from relationships that transcend us and have taken root in our bodies for the long term. This mechanism of relationships and imagination is activated the moment a body begins to move: we never dance alone.

Un monde réel is a sensitive and joyful dance that extends beyond the two bodies on stage. Rémy Héritier and Bryan Campbell crawl, roll and skip across the stage, balancing between extreme concentration and surrender.

The choreography brings together different worlds within and beyond us to highlight complexity and diversity, everyone’s contribution to an era that tends to remember only the names of the winners. Following the principles of interval training, they alternated between dance and rest sequences (1 minute of activity / 20 seconds of rest), with the duration gradually increasing. But can you rest on a stage? Where does the activity begin and end?
